What does the green dot mean on instagram?

The green dot means the person is currently active on Instagram (or was recently online within the last few minutes). To hide your own status:

  1. Go to your profile and tap Settings (gear icon)
  2. Select Privacy
  3. Tap Activity Status
  4. Toggle Show Activity Status OFF

Note: Once you hide your status, you also won’t be able to see other users’ activity status.
